Hornazo de Hornazar 500 grs.
The hornazo made at Hornazart is a traditional dish from Ávila. It consists of a base of dough kneaded with lard and olive oil, topped with a layer of slices of the finest chorizo. On top of the chorizo is a layer of diced, marinated pork loin, sautéed with slices of lean, cured bacon. This is all covered with another layer of dough, which is then sealed to the bottom layer, leaving the filling raw inside. This allows the juices to infuse the dough during baking, resulting in a delicious and nutritious hornazo, perfect for taking to the countryside, work, school, etc. A lifesaver for dinner or a quick snack, it's a true ally for any homemaker.
