Aiurri 2023 embodies the character of Rioja Alavesa, crafted by Alma de Carraovejas. This single-vineyard wine, from Leza, is a blend of seven plots: Vallejón, Espino, Losares, San Andrés, Guardaviñas, and Viejete. Each plot is individually managed to express the best of its vineyard and its surroundings. The Aiurri region is truly special, with old vines boasting clonal biodiversity and varying sun exposure, nestled at the foot of the Toloño mountain range. The grapes ripen slowly and are hand-harvested at the optimal moment. In the winery, only the must obtained by gravity, without pressing, is used. Vinification is carried out by plot, employing spontaneous fermentations and gentle, carefully controlled extractions in French oak vats and concrete tanks. The wine then spends 16 months aging in French oak barrels of varying sizes. Finally, the blend is refined to achieve perfect balance. A true art, unfolding on the palate.
